Good afternoon,

As part of survey work which has been conducted in Canterbury district, the community have highlighted that anti-social behaviour and violence are the greatest concern to the public in the City Centre.

Whilst half of respondents told us they were either satisfied or very satisfied with the level of policing in this area, that leaves half who are neither satisfied or dissatisfied or worse and we must work hard to change this.

As a result of this Canterbury Community Safety Unit have undertaken a number of operations and increased patrols, particularly in the run up to Christmas 2024. In this period there was a 12% reduction in reported incidents of anti-social behaviour and 20% reduction in violence compared to the previous year. There was also a 7% reduction in shoplifting for this period.
